Pre-Race Report : Phakisa - Round 4
Finally the five week break is over when the Bikefin Honda Racing team hits the track next week for the 4th round of the South African Supersport Championship in Welkom at the Phakisa Freeway. The team took advantage from the longer break to update the Honda CBR600RR’s and spend a lot of time on the Dyno to fine tune all the findings of the first three rounds. Lance Isaacs is confident that his weapon of choice is well prepared and that his feedback to the team will reflect in his performance. Brent Harran reckons that the extra work by the team was necessary to face the high rev characteristics of the track. Sandro travels down to the Freestate with a lot of confidence since he’s been out on this racetrack before. It is the first time that he is going to a South African track with experience. This will enable him to focus immediately on the bike set-up instead of learning the bends and curves. The winner of last race Clint Seller targets for the lead in the championship and has be training as hard as possible. Clint is making sure that fitness is the least of his concerns. Team principle Brad Anassis is making sure that the Bikefin Honda team is focussed and prepared on the coldness at Welkom during this time of the year. Riders are ready to RACE!

Two week until the next race!
Two weeks to go until the 4th round of the South African Supersport Championship in Welkom at the Phakisa Freeway. After the pole position and the double win in Port Elizabeth – Aldo Scribante, the team is amped up to repeat the same in the Freestate. The Phakisa racetrack is well suited for the Honda CBR600RR’s of the Bikefin Honda Racing Team and a previous test has shown great potential for the team. A big challenge for everyone is the big temperature difference between the cold mornings and the hot afternoons. The big question is “will the team be able to score its first 1-2-3?”

Post Race Report: Round 3
Brad Anassis, principle BikeFin Honda Racing team predicted a favourable result at the 3rd round of the South African Supersport Championship at the Aldo Scribante racetrack in Port Elizabeth. And that is was in a nut shell the BikeFin Honda team ended the weekend with a pole position (third in a row for Seller), Overall first and third.
Friday’s practice sessions saw Clint Seller again set the pace with Lance Isaacs constantly in the top five, whilst Brent Harran battled with a dud front tyre. Then throw in the Eastern Cape Gale force winds to make it extremely difficult during Friday’s sessions. All changed for the better on Saturday during qualifying when Brad & Martin Paetzold from MP suspension came up with a qualifying strategy that saw the main opposition drop way down the order with only two minutes remaining. Clint Seller P1 - Lance Isaacs P2 with Brent Harran P4 able to find the pace with a new front tyre and take up the final front row position, making it three BikeFin CBR600RR on the front row.
Race 1
Lance Isaacs had a blistering start with Clint Seller following closely. Only a marginal gear changing error by Lance on lap 9 out of 12 handed the lead to Clint which made it a perfect run for victory, with Brent coming home in third. The first victory of the year was a fact and it was the first victory for the Honda CBR600RR in four years!
Race2
The 600 Super Sport class voted best race of the day by event organisers, it was all about the BikeFin Honda Racing team that gave the crowd a mind blowing show. From the start it was Lance who again showed he has what it takes to win but an error saw him run wide and drop back down the order to 6th. It was all about Clint Seller who fought with Mcfadden for the lead passing him into the turns several times during the race, as the chequered flag dropped it was Clint who secured another first place with a courageous out braking move on the final lap going into the fast turn one, Brent Harran dug deep and tagged along watching closely as Mcfadden made an error with only two turns to go allowing Brent to pounce on the opportunity and claim second place over the line. BikeFin Honda one - two over the line.
Sandro Carvalho again impressed on his first outing at PE with constant improving laptimes and consistent finishes in the top 15!
The sublime racing of the team was witnessed by the executives of both Honda SA and Bikefin. It is without a doubt the great, endless energy of the whole team that made these impressive results possible. The team is looking forward to the next outing on the 21st of May when the team will compete in the Supersport race at Phakisa, two weeks prior to the next National Championship round at Phakisa as well! GO BIKEFIN HONDA! (The pictures of the weekend.)
