Pre-Race Report : Port Elizabet (Aldo Scribante)
With five days to go until the Port Elizabeth race at the Aldo Scribante racetrack, the team is highly motivated to show what they are capable of. Brent, Clint and Lance are unanimous about the great chances for victory they have on the Honda CBR600RR. First of all it is a riders’ circuit and the track will not allow sheer horsepower domination. With only one main straight and it’s mainly tight turns and twists, it requires a bit of grunt and the low torque of the Honda CBR600RR will prove it’s strength. With the combination of great management (Brad Anassis), sponsorship (Honda and Bikefin) and talent (Brent, Clint, Lance and Sandro) the Bikefin Honda Racing Team is ready to put up a great show at the coastal track. Let’s RACE!

Preparations
Mental and physical strength is important to be part of the Bikefin Honda Racing Team. Where Clint Seller completed a half marathon yesterday, Brent Harran focused on short uphill sprints to build up stamina and managed to do an 11km run almost under three minutes. Patron Lance in the mean time was picking up his Yoga lessons to get in to the right mind set.

New Trailer in the Making!
The strive for perfection never stops at the Bikefin Honda Racing Team. Brad Anassis, team principle knows that constant improvement is necessary to stay on top of the game. In order to facilitate and accommodate the team in a better way, the team is building a new, high tech trailer since a couple of weeks. The trailer will hold a separate pit box for each bike, six(!) in total. Each bike will have it’s own toolbox, tires and spares compartment. The trailer also has a designated team quarters inside to hold meetings and analyze all the data. The trailer is tailor made, specific for the requirement of the Bikefin Honda Racing Team and build on years of experience. Once in operation it will provide the whole team with excellent benefits that will have a huge impact on the team’s performance. The trailer will be pulled by an Iveco Truck, which is a proud and official sponsor of the Bikefin Honda Racing Team. The truck and trailer will be used for the first time at the East London track later in May.

Championship Standings
With the first two SA Championship race events under the belt, the Bikefin Honda Racing Team has shown that they are a team with serious intentions for the SA Super Sport title. Although McFadden has the lead in the championship, the BikeFin Hondas have showed they have the pace to run at the front and break lap records, Clint Seller currently second and Brent Harran third in the championship are the ones to watch however don’t rule out Lance Isaacs who after having some bad luck in the first couple of heats is not just an outsider and he will be aiming for the top podium spot in PE as well. Angolan Champion Sandro Carvalho, only in his first season in South Africa, managed to score already points in a highly competitive field. It is needless to say that all four of the riders are aiming to take home maximum points home for the Bikefin Honda Racing Team at the next race in Port Elizabeth. Event 2nd May.

Behind the scenes: Road Trip
A superbike away race especially in Cape Town is a huge task for the Pretoria based Anassis Bikefin Honda Racing Team. Not only a 3600 kilometer round trip, but it requires thourough planning of what to load for the race event. The Bikefin Honda Racing Team takes a complete VIP village to facilitate all the 100 guests during the race weekend, from catering equipment to tables chairs Portable Shade units to keep all out the sun and rain, never mind a minimum of 10 bikes then add the team golf cart, Brad’s motto has always been to look good that exactly what the team does. While the practice is on Friday and the races on Saturday, the Bikefin Honda Racing team needs to leave the headquarters on Tuesday morning in order to have the “VIP village & Pit set up” ready when the red lights go off on Friday morning. This album gives an impression on what it takes to bring the team to Killarney Raceway and back to Pretoria..(The pictures of the road trip.)

Honda SA : Press Release 06/04/2011
The BikeFin Honda Racing team competed at the 2nd round of the SA Supersport Championships held in Cape Town at the tricky yet fast Killarney race circuit Saturday 2nd April. From the outset of the first official practice on Friday it was all about the CBR600RR. Team rider #4 Clinton Seller who ended the day overall fastest with a blistering lap half a second under the lap record. Brent Harran #6 finished in second and Lance Isaacs #38 came home in 4th position. All the riders showed that the 2011 Honda CB600RR had the power and top speed to win races.
Qualification on Saturday got off to a brilliant start for the BikeFin Honda team with #4 Clinton Seller on Pole position P1, #6 Brent Harran in P2 and #38 Lance Isaacs P4. The team’s international rider, Sandro Carvalho #23 qualified in 17th position with his first ride at the circuit. Anassis team’s great sportsmanship and camaraderie gave Bjorn Estment a ride for the day on a spare Honda CBR600RR after a mishap in Friday’s testing which saw the youngster crash and write off his own bike. He planted himself on the second row showing how adaptable the CBR motorcycle is.!
The first race saw Clinton Sellar lead for nine out of ten laps and at one stage the BikeFin team ran one, two three on the track giving the Honda fans and crowds something to cheers about. But it was not to be till the end as on the final straight and with a big slip stream maneuver Mcfadden passed Seller on the final straight. Seller – Harran and Mcfadden crossed the line in 100th of a second apart showing how close the race ended. Isaacs in 4th putting three BikeFin CBR600RR Honda’s in the top four positions.
Second heat - Another nail biter as the team ran 1st and 2nd for most of the heat; in the end it was team young gun Brent Harran, that climbed up a spot and finished second with ‘Local boy’ Lance Isaacs coming third! Clint Sellar, definitely team rider of the day had a “smashing” weekend leading every practice – qualified first – broke the lap record but while leading the second heat crashed on the final turn with the finish line in sight but still managed to pick up his broken bike and limp home to finish 6th overall. A very satisfying weekend for the Bikefin Honda team. Well done to all the riders, we anticipate more excellent racing in PE!!
